5-21-03: This 'n That

Wednesday, May 21 2003

9:32pm  Met with the guy from *USI for lunch today at 'Jerry's American Restaurant'. He was very nice, and informative, and David & I both were able to get a better idea about the office supply industry. Seems to be something we're pretty interested in, and that could be double with a fairly small initial investment. We have some thinking to do.

I'm currently watching *OLTL on the Soap Channel, and Tessa & Pav are on the bed with me. Tessa is tired and happy as usual. Another big day in the life of a dog with everything. She, Vince & I had another great session on the agility course today. Vince is technically good but lacks enthusiasm. Tessa is fast & sharp, and today she followed several silent, hands-only commands. I don't think she has any limits--except me, her handler!

Cedar Pointe on Monday was okay. Had bad timing and ended up in line 1-1/2 hours for season passes and req'd photo. Later in the day there was NO line at all. We rode a few rides, the 'biggest' was the wooden roller coaster Meanstreak; the new, popular rides had gigantic lines. We decided that it was a Monday, but too early in the season. We left @ 3:30 with plans to come back on a less crowded day.

The weather was very nice, but turned rainy again yesterday. David ran some errands in town while I cleaned house. I spent time on the computer researching salvage companies re: material to build the greenhouse, and also checking & sending email. I hope I don't forget how to send real letters.

Had my wedding ring 'rounded out' today at a jewelry store--somehow it got bent oval and was squishing a groove in my finger. I think I shut a door on it, but can't remember for sure. I really have an awful memory for details. When I skip days between journal entries, I'm pretty sure that a few major 'details' slip through the cracks.

Vince was carrying around a small stick today and it looked like he had a cigar in his mouth.

The chickens try to peck at a scab on my thumb. David says they eat food out of his hand.

I hope warm weather returns soon.

The garden is doing well despite the lack of heat. It's fun to see the potato greens grow so fast, and the lettuce has surprised me too. I hope the sunflowers survive the bird 'attacks'. Can only keep the plastic bottles on so long, then the leaves need more space.

Leslie did okay in the Run/Bike/Run with Karen on Sunday. Sounds like it was tough conditions.

Tomorrow we'll be going to some garage sales. Dad left a phone message today from Sweden.

*USI: a major distributor of office supplies

*OLTL: "One Life To Live" soap opera. After 43 years, the show has since gone off network but online. It provided me with years of fluff, escapist entertainment, and Erika Slezak (Victoria Lord) remains one of my favorite actresses in any media!

End of Entry
